Midnight Screening, 2015 · Single-channel video with sound · Duration 1:54

Midnight Screening is a video work built from found and re-mediated imagery connected to the 2012 Dark Knight Rises theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado, Weiner's hometown. The work centers on the shooter’s face, drawn from courtroom camera footage, as it drifts in and out of focus through an image chain that passes from screen to phone and back again.

Accompanied by police radio audio from the night of the attack, the work considers distance, spectatorship, and the circulation of traumatic visual material through contemporary systems of recording, playback, and transmission.
